Engineering jobs- The importance, facts and future of these jobs are very important for the development and advancement of our society. The fact is that progress is directly proportional to job opportunities for engineers. There are many branches and each one is specialized in that particular sector.
Before starting the study of engineering, the student has to decide which faculty he is interested in and he gets specialization in that particular section. Every stream has its own importance and has a good future regarding name, fame and income. Today various students opt for the engineering jobs and so they work hard to complete the entrance examinations and then study their favorite stream.
While considering the different branches of engineering, civil engineering comes in mind because this stream is the oldest one and has great importance of its own. They have to plan, construct and maintain the public works or the fixed structures like buildings, dams etc.
The second one is mechanical engineering and nowadays companies are working with their technical team members for the betterment of the mechanical systems so that its impact on the environment gets minimized. They apply the principles of physics in action and design, manufacture and maintenance of the mechanical systems, is streamlined and more proficient.
Electrical engineering deals with jobs to tackle problems associated with electrical systems and electronics. Coupled with the design, software and computer engineers it opens the door for all the different branches and the expertise in their respective section and today with the immense use of computer in every walk of life.
The importance of software engineering has increased 10 fold. Their transaction is with the development of the software that are needed for proper running of computers and also the security programs needed to protect them. Recently there have been a tremendous increase in the software sector and a lot of new and developed software has been introduced in numerous sectors.
There was a time when software was a part of the computer, engineering jobs. But now computer engineers deals with performance and functions of computers. So we can see that engineering jobs have entered into every field of our life and have become a permanent part for the development and maintenance of our society and without which we cannot imagine the proper growth and development.
Back to the education of the engineering student; they need to plan and decide very early the field in which they want to dedicate their whole life and then specialize in that particular field. After the student has paid their dues by graduating they contribute to society in the given engineering job of their level of expertise.
Engineers, develop economical solutions to technical problems. They link scientific discoveries and commercial applications, to meet the needs of society and consumer demands.
Many engineers develop new products, during the process of developing these products, engineers will specify the functional requirements, design and test the products and its components, then, integrate the components to produce a final design. They will evaluate the design’s overall effectiveness, with cost, reliability, and safety as the determining factors. These processes apply to the development of most products, and include basically all industries such as: chemicals, computers, helicopters, toys, automobiles, etc., etc., etc.
In addition to their involvement in design, research and development, testing, quality control, production, and maintenance; they might also direct and coordinate production and operations in industrial plants. Engineers, will also direct and coordinate the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of equipment and machinery.
Competition and improved technology will force companies to update their product designs and to optimize the manufacturing processes. Companies will rely on engineers to increase productivity and expand the output of their product lines. Because of the advancements in technologies, engineers are able to produce and analyze various product designs much more rapidly.
A distinct advantage to the engineering occupations, are that advancements and new technological won’t limit employment opportunities, because it is the engineer who is needed to provide the ideas that lead to the improved products and more efficient manufacturing processes.
Engineering jobs are expected to grow by more than 10% over the next decade. The increase of engineering jobs, will be in the research and development, and consulting services industries. The overall jobs outlook will vary according to the engineering specialty and demands.
As always, bridge builders one and all, until we meet again, keep the prints straight, the rivets hot, and safety in mind.
