Carpentry schools, help the carpenter to transform into skilled woodworkers who can work up to the expectations of modern requirements. - Learn and follow the safety rules and regulations, understand the importance of maintaining a safe and clean work environment
- Have a understanding of building codes and layout and why they are important
- Know how to properly do all finish work, floors, walls, ceilings, and the installation as well as finishing of
cabinetry - Obtain a working knowledge of building and repairing furniture
- Framing, building, and finishing staircases
- Know and have a working knowledge of the principles of floor, wall, and roof framing
- Have the knowledge of how to verify the trueness of a structure, using the plumb bob and level
- Learn about all the various lumbers and other building materials
- Know how to, install door frames and hang doors, change locks, and the framing and installing windows
- Have a very good understanding of all the various aspects of the remodeling projects, remodeling homes, and the commercial and non commercial buildings

Many of the carpentry schools, trade schools and vocational schools offer to there students online programs. They can enroll in these programs and take classes online at their own pace. The online courses offered through the online schools, teach principles and educational components of the carpentry trade to students who prefer a distance learning format
Employment of carpenters is expected to increase by about 10 to 12% over the next decade, the average for most occupations. The job prospects, and job opportunities are better for those with the most training and skills. The carpenter with well rounded skills will have more opportunities than carpenters who can only perform a few relatively simple tasks.
